Cara Brown started her line in 2016, after a day of cleaning out a box of old jewelry at her New Jersey farmhouse. A Vanderbilt marketing graduate and Texas native, she began making necklaces that brought old and new together, and people started buying them off her neck. In a nail salon. On airplanes. The brand grew from there.
Her work runs in two lines. Found Object pieces are built around vintage treasures she hunts down herself, from antique belt buckles to old brooches. The Horse Brass line centers on antique English horse brasses, the decorative pieces that once adorned the harnesses of working horses in Victorian England. Every necklace is one of a kind, hand-knotted with semiprecious stones and vintage beads.
This Fish Pendant belongs to that world of found objects given a second life. A single repurposed piece, hung to be worn on its own or layered with fine jewelry. Cara Brown Designs has been carried at Barneys and Saks.
True Love Always carries fine jewelry for customers from Montecito, Hope Ranch and Summerland. The shop is at 1115 Coast Village Road in Montecito.
