Foreste + Hils Designworks was founded in 1999 by Barbara Edelston Peterson, and the studio is based right here in Santa Barbara. The brand is named for her two daughters, Foreste and Hils, who, as young girls stringing pasta and beads, sparked their mother's move into jewelry.

Every piece is one of a kind. Barbara works with high-quality natural stones, freshwater and cultured pearls, 22k gold, and Tibetan sterling silver, mixing tones and cuts in a way that reads as both easy and elegant.

This piece pairs luminous opal beads with the brand's signature XO heart. Because each is made by hand from natural materials, no two are quite the same.
